1) SJBA Sunday Dhamma School will reopen on 16 February 2020, Sunday for both new and old students (age from 5 years to 16 years old). Registration of new students will also be conducted on the same day. 
2) SJBA is organising a Vipassana Meditation Retreat in April, 2020 as follows:     Venue: Chin Swee Temple, Genting      Teacher: SJBA Abbot, Venerable Nyanaramsi.       Dates: April 11 to 18 Ven. Nyanaramsi is the Abbot of SJBA Vihara. He is a highly respected meditation teacher who provides meticulous guidance and advice to all practitioners. This is thus a rare blessing to be guided by such a wise, experienced and patient teacher.

3) SJBA invite you and family and friends to a spiritual and mentally enriching morning at this Sunday’s Buddha Puja commencing at 9.15am with offering of lights, flowers and incense to the Buddha, chanting led by Venerable Indarathana, Dhamma Talk on “Dana & Charity ” by Bro Tan Siang Chye, Blesssings and Sharing of Merits.

4) Due to the uncertainty of the current coronavirus outbreak, it’s prudent that we adopt basic hygienic practice for the well being of our members and devotees inside SJBA. We seek your assistance and co-operation as follows:

   – Please greet one another other with palms folded in anjali posture instead of shaking hands

   – If you do shake hands, please wash your hands with soap or sanitiser, after handshake or    after touching items that are frequently in contact with members of the public

   – Wearing a proper face mask is recommended in crowded areas

  – Bring own drinking water   

  – Please practise proper etiquette when sneezing or coughing (maintain distance, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues/clothing/handkerchief)

  – SJBA may screen for fever and cough at the entrance to our activities. We seek your   cooperation in this matter for the well being of all

  – Anyone having flu/cold/cough, please go back and rest at home. Please get treated and   temporarily refrain from SJBA’s group activities as your kind concern for the well being of   others

  – Event Co-ordinators or Organising Committee may use discretion to cancel the event if the need arises.

Announcements (Monday, 3 February 2020)

Due to the uncertainty of the current coronavirus outbreak, SJBA will cancel the “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Dinner Celebrations scheduled on 8th February 2020, Saturday, 7pm.  Those who still wish to contribute angpows for the old folks of Ci Hang Chempaka may pass the angpows (for about 45 pax) to Sis Lily or Sis Cindy in SJBA Office by this Thursday (6 Feb 2020). We’ll arrange a suitable time to hand over the angpows to the old folks at Ci Hang Chempaka.

2) SJBA cordially invite you and family and friends to join us at our “Gong Xi, Gong Xi” Dinner on 8th February 2020, Saturday, 7pm to celebrate the Chinese New Year together and promote fellowship as we enjoy the various program planned for the night together with our special guests from the Old Folks Homes. You many bring along some food to share with others and angpows for the old folks too (about 45 pax).

2) SJBA will be conducting the forthcoming Grand 28 Buddhas Puja Ceremony on 4 January 2020, Saturday, 7.00pm – 10.00pm. In preparation for this auspicious occasion, the Venerable Members of the Sangha will be leading in the Chanting of the 28 Buddhas daily (8.30am – 11.00am . 7.30pm – 10.00pm plus afternoon session at 1.00pm – 3.00pm on Saturday and Sunday) until a total of 1,000 times. Sponsorship for this auspicious events are most welcome (Main Sponsor RM1,000 and sponsorship of any amount). 1) SJBA is organising the 13th Annual Educare Program in SJBA in aid of needy students, providing them with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 needy students in Subang Jaya/USJ/Sunway/Sungei Way and rural areas will receive the school items on 8 December 2018 (9am to 12pm). Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM108.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life.
This noble task can be achieved with the continuous support of our members and devotees. If you wish to sponsor one or more students, please contact Sis. Lily 03-56348181, 56315299.The Educare Program will be held in SJBA Shrine Hall on 8 December 2019, 9am to 12pm. Hence the Sunday Puja on that day will be off.

He obtained his BA (Hons) from the  University of Kelaniya and M. Litt. from University of Oxford. Dr. Ratnyaka teaches early Buddhism, Mindfulness, Buddhist Philosophy and Pali.
