image00141) This year’s Annual Vipassana Meditation Retreat will be held at SJBA from 18th to 27th December 2015. The Retreat will be conducted by Venerable Sayadaw U Sobhita from Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre, assisted by Venerable Sayadaw Pyinnyarnanda and our Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. If you wish to join in the retreat as yogi or wish to a helper or sponsor food for the monks and yogis, and other expenses during the Retreat, please contact our Office Administrator.

2) This year SJBA Educare Program in SJBA will be held on 6 December 2015 to provide poor students with school items to start the new school term. It is expected that about 500 to 600 needy students will receive the school items on 6 December 2015. Each student will receive a full set of school items which consists of school bags, shoes, books, stationary, etc. which costs about RM100.00. The amount may not be a lot but it is a simple yet significant gesture of ours to show our care and concern to poor students. We hope that through this simple but sincere gesture, the students are motivated to study better and achieve academic success and eventually success in life. 3) SJBA is organising this New Year Eve with a 8-course Fun & Fund Raising Dinner in SJBA Vihara. SJBA brings to you the best from Sekinchan, a sumptuous dinner prepared by the famous Hao Xiang Chi restaurant, Sekinchan at RM800 per table/RM80 per pax. The evening shall start with Puja at 7.00pm. During dinner there will be performances, karaoke competition with prizes and lucky draws.

5) The Dhamma Talk in English this Sunday (15 November 2015, 10am) is on “The Four Noble Truth” by SJBA Abbot, Ven. Nyanaramsi. Ven. Nyanaramsi was an accountant in Malaysia before he was ordained in 1995 at the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Yangon, Myanmar with Venerable Chanmyay Yeiktha Sayadaw U Janakabhivamsa as his preceptor. He had also studied the Dhamma and meditation under Sayadaw U Indaka and other Sayadaws in Myanmar. Ven Nyanaramsi spent 9 vassas in Myanmar before he accepted an invitation from SJBA to come back to Malaysia in 2003 to teach the Dhamma and meditation to Malaysian Buddhists. Ven Nyanaramsi is now the Abbot of Subang Jaya Vihara. He travels frequently to Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia to conduct meditation retreats.

2. This year’s Kathina Ceremony in SJBA will be held this Sunday (8 November 2015). Kathina is a traditional Buddhist Ceremony started by the Buddha Himself for lay devotees to offer robes and other requisites to the Sangha at the end of Vassa (rainy season).

The Ceremony will begin on Kathina Eve (Saturday, 7 November 2015) with Taking The Three Refuges Five Precepts before the Sangha at 8.00pm followed by Paritta Chanting, Dhamma Talk by Ven. Nyanaramsi, Blessings by the Sangha and Sharing of Merits.

On Kathina Day, the Ceremony will commence at 8.15am with the Taking of the Three Refuges and Observance of the Five Precepts administered by the Sangha, Offering of Robes and other Requisites, Sharing of Merits and Lunch Dana. A blood donation campaign will also be held on this auspicious day. Please come and join us to perform these meritorious deeds together.

Suh Chuen graduated with Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from TAR College and Masters in Technology (Environment Management) from University Malaya. She is an Environmental Consultant. She was the Dhammaduta Head of TAR College Buddhist Society and former Honorary Secretary of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (KMBS). Currently, Sis. Suh Chuen teaches Sunday Dhamma class for adults at KMBS.

4. This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk (4/10/15, 10am) will be given by Bro. Jeff Oliver. Jeff Oliver has been sharing the Dhamma in Malaysia since his first visit in 1995 as a Buddhist monk
known as Dhammarakkhita, “Protector of the Dhamma”. He still believes in his name and
devotes his life to not only protecting the pure Dhamma but continuously exploring it and sharing it for the benefit of anyone who seeks wisdom, peace and freedom. Jeff’s approach to the teaching is relaxed and practical yet deeply profound and life transforming. He shares useful ways of formal meditation and gives necessary advice for living the practice in daily life. Jeff gives talks, workshops and short and long term retreats. He believes in the power of communication, understanding the Dhamma intellectually through discussion and questions and answers as well as experience through silent and deep introspection into the true nature of existence in this moment, here and now.

Bro Tom is an accredited Chinese physician and acupuncturist focuses on family medicine in Puchong. He is a long serving Dhamma volunteer and a Dhamma speaker with strong interest in Engaging and Applied Buddhism. At present, he is an Exco member of Kinrara Metta Buddhist society.

In line with SJBA’s effort in promoting a caring and compassionate community, we have invited children from Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Kurang Upaya (P3KU) to join us in our celebration. The children have provided us with a wish-list. If you wish to fulfil their dream, please contact Sis Lily at 03-56348181 / 56315299 for the items they have wished for. Please remember to bring your lantern along for the traditional lantern procession round the temple to end the night. DINNER WILL BE SERVED, however we encourage you to bring some desserts to share with everyone. 4. To-date SJBA have received donations of about RM 3 million for its Building Extension. The cost of construction of the new building is RM5 million. We look forward for more help to raise the balance in order for us to successfully complete the construction of the new building.

6. This Sunday’s Dhamma Talk (13/9/15, 10am) will be given by Ven. Mahacara who is residing in SJBA for the Vassa (Rains Retreat). During this 3-month period, Venerable Mahacara will be cultivating himself in SJBA Vihara as well as teaching devotees the Dhamma.

7. This Sunday’s Dhamma Dhamma Talk (20/9/15, 11.30am) is on “Meeting With the Dhamma” by Ven. Dhammapala. Ven. Dhammapala graduated in Pali and Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and received his Doctorate from the University of Hong Kong. He has been lecturing in the University of Hong Kong and has presented a number of papers. He is currently the Spritual Director of Buddhistdoor. Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong University Centre of Buddhist Studies Alumini Association and Director of a few Buddhist-based organisations.

image00141. SJBA will be organising an Intermediate Course on Buddhism from 2 October to 6 November 2015. The course will run for 6 consecutive Fridays from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and will be conducted by Uncle Vijaya, Datuk Charlie Chia and Dr Chan Kah Yein. The course will cover Buddhist views on contemporary issues and Buddhist living. All are welcome. Please contact Sis Cindy at 03-56348181 for further details.

2. In conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival, SJBA is organizing a Mooncake Family Night on Saturday, 26th September 2015. It will be a fun-filled night to celebrate with family. In line with SJBA’s effort in promoting a caring and compassionate community, we have invited children from Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Kurang Upaya (P3KU) to join us in our celebration. The children have provided us with a wish-list. If you wish to fulfil their dream, please contact Sis Lily at 03-56348181 / 56315299 for the items they have wished for. Please remember to bring your lantern along for the traditional lantern procession round the temple to end the night. DINNER WILL BE SERVED, however we encourage you to bring some desserts to share with everyone. Please bring your family and friends to SJBA on Saturday, 26th September 2014, 7.00pm to join us in our fun-filled celebration.

3. To-date SJBA have received donations of about RM 3 million for its Building Extension. The cost of construction of the new building is RM5 million. We look forward for more help to raise the balance in order for us to successfully complete the construction of the new building by June 2016.
